About the Campaign
The UC hospital system is a major provider of health care in California. It is also a public entity, which must remain free of religious influence. But UC has entered into contracts with Catholic hospitals that impose religion on UC health care, tying the hands of UC clinicians and prohibiting them from providing evidence-based care to patients. These contracts threaten patient health and undermine UC’s values. UC must end them now, and must not enter into any new contracts that make health care dependent on religion.
The All Care Everywhere campaign and our partners successfully halted an extensive deal between UC San Francisco and Dignity Health, a Catholic hospital chain, that would have imposed religious restrictions on UC-provided care. We have now taken our fight to the UC system overall.
